This year GEMS heard overwhelmingly from our long term care facilities that patients were looking for a way to connect with their families in light of the recent changes in their ability to visit with friends and family. Specifically, they were looking for cards, stationary, stamps, all things that would make that possible but aren’t within the often limited budgets of most facilities.
Together GEMS employees rallied and “Families Apart Joined By Cards From The Heart” was born. Our employees and community partners donated over 3,000 cards, 280 forever stamps and 300 writing utensils that we were able to pass on to The Nevada State Veterans Home and five other valley nursing homes.
A lot of joy was spread this holiday season and will continue into 2021 !
