Guardian Elite Medical Services (GEMS) will be adding a sensory bag on each of the 7 ambulances of the fleet and additional bags for events. GEMS is taking the initiative to add these useful tools to their fleet for a number of reasons:

  • To entertain children when they have to be transported
  • To calm a patient that may be overstimulated
  • To comfort an accompanying passenger by distracting them

The bags will include: Headphones to block out noise, sunglasses to dim bright lights, a wide range of toys and puzzles to occupy hands and visual communication cards for children who have trouble verbalizing.

“This isn’t just a new feature for our fleet, this is a way to provide a higher level of service to the patients that we transport,” stated Samuel Scheller, GEMS CEO. “I only wish that we would’ve added this sooner.”
